Paština Závada

The climbing area Paština Závada is located near Súľovské skaly and is also on conglomerate.

The routes are mostly located in the forest, which provides pleasant shade and ideal conditions for climbing even during hot summer days. Most of the sectors are north-facing, which provides cooler conditions, with the exception being Okrúhličná skala where you can enjoy climbing in the sun.
Although the rock may be crumbly, similar to sandstone, the area offers a unique atmosphere, less frequented routes and crowd-free climbing.

The approach, while not the shortest, provides an adventurous experience in the tranquil embrace of wild nature. This less frequented area is ideal for climbers looking for a quiet and pleasant environment.

In the 80s, climbers active in Súľovské skaly (e.g. Š. Kuchár, I. Vančo) climbed here for a short time and made several first ascents in the traditional way using their own protection. However, the area remained forgotten for a long time, until the boom of climbing in Súľovské skaly, and tighter climbing restrictions due to nature protection have also played a role in decreasing its popularity. In 2003, local climbers J. Balala, J. Bušfy and M. Vajda set the first fixed bolts in the Ementál sector. More routes were gradually added, but despite recent developments the area still remains largely forgotten and less frequented than the surrounding crags.
